John George Nicolay was a personal secretary and friend to Abraham Lincoln throughout the Civil War. Every comprehensive biography of Lincoln often include references to Nicolay. Nicolay produced a ten volume authorized biography of Lincoln. Helen Nicolay is the daughter of John Nicolay.
