This publication is derived from an original book entitled The Civil War Through The Camera, by Henry Elson, copyrighted in 1912, by Patriot Publishing Co., Springfield, Mass.

This is a complete history ebook of the civil war, in unique eBookJoint format, with approximately 250 pages of text, and 495 civil war photographs with associated descriptive text, and 16 color reproductions.

This history ebook includes all of the original book, in total; there are no abridgments. To the original book, has been added additional photographs and sketches, and a short movie about the Civil War.

Since this book was written over 83 years ago, most people will note that the textual style, prose, grammar, spelling, punctuation, etc, are somewhat different than our modern day expectations. The effect is to provide a interesting, and delightful ‘flavor’ of a day and time (1912) when prose was very often dramatic.

Even though this book was published in 1912, it provides an excellent account of the Civil War (or the War of Rebellion), in both picture, and in prose; perhaps even more-so than found in more modern, sanitized accounts. Rather than give just the cold, hard facts of the civil war, this book gives more of an "insiders" view of the war; the emotion filled tales of sacrifice,  and destruction, and death, and deprivation, and hatred, and cruelty, and pain, are balanced by tales of honor, chivalry, kindness, and humanity, and morality, and patriotism.
